proper sizing of room airconditioners

Singapore: Where Air Conditioners Live

Many people buy an air conditioner that is too large, thinking it will provider better cooling. However, an oversized air conditioner is actually less effective — and wastes energy at the same time. Air conditioners remove both heat and humidity from the air. If the unit is too large, it will cool the room quickly, but only remove some of the humidity. This leaves the room with a damp, clammy feeling. A properly sized unit will remove humidity effectively as it cools.

wen buying a new AC…check out d table bellow:

Room size : Horsepower: Air condition type
15 m2: 3/4 horsepower: Window type
16 – 20 m2: 1 horsepower: Window type
21 – 24 m2: 1.5 horsepower: Window type
25 – 30 m2: 2 horsepower: Window type
31 – 45 m2: 2.5 horsepower : Window to Split type
Over45 m2: 3 horsepower: Window to Split type

inverter type ACs have d higher energy efficiency ratio (EER). dey r a bit more expensive but will b more cheaper in d long run coz of deir efficiency. wen buying power consuming appliances or equipment…. always consider d total life cycle costing, i.e. check out d energy or fuel consumption of d unit during d entire time dat u’ll b using it. u’ll b surprised dat cheaper units will cost more in d long run!

….energy efficiency is a must…..wasting energy is unacceptable…..
