last march 18, 2012; i was at d gardens of malasag eco-tourism village when i chanced upon the black smoke being emitted by a gothong ship liner & chimney of a factory somewhere in d low lying area of cdo. tis emissions really ruined d nice scenery of macajalar bay. hope the dept. f environment & natural resources office in cdo is monitoring tis kind of emissions….d denr ofc is located up in d mountain of malasag…surely dey can see tis pollution too….ooops…march 18th was a sunday! no office work 4denr employees….

d question is….how can we stop d pollution?

glass window refs

a lot of stores, restaurants, canteens, groceries, etc. have a glass window refrigerator that were mostly provided for free by refreshment suppliers.

most, if not all of tis refs have oversized compressors dat sucks a lot of energy! they r made 2make sure dat d products on display r very cold. some even have blowers dat continuously circulate d cold air inside. tis refs don’t care bout efficiency….a ref w/ regular door (no glass window) s more efficient since it keeps the inside cool & well insulated. moisture build-up outside d glass window s a good indicator! one can feel d coldness of d glass window wen touched (compared 2 a regular door insulated ref).

if you’re selling d products at a higher price, e.g. in restaurants, hotels, etc. d amount of electric consumption can b compensated by d high profit margin. but if you only have a sari2 store or a bakery & sells d products at d suggested retail price….man…think again…u might b just paying off ur electric bills w/ ur profits!

inefficient appliances like tis have a high carbon footprint…thus r not good 4d environment. of course cold drinks r cool…but der r oder ways 2cool a drink aside fr using free but inefficient refs! n d long run…they’re not free at all…..

f u can’t help but use tis free glass windowed refs….at least save some money by not using dem 24/7. unplug dem at night & transfer perishable goods in a regular ref dat u use 24/7. could be inconvenient but worth d savings! if d lights inside r busted, don’t replace dem! or u can bust tis lights out. dey generate heat dat d compressors need 2 cool down. suppliers add d lights so deir products can b seen even in daylight!

one restaurant unplugged deir glass window ref indefinitely & was amazed to see how much deir electric bill went down! dey just use tis as a display 4deir available products 4sale. wen someone buys a product, dey get a cold one fr a regular ref.

glass window ref s a cool way 2display products. in case u don’t need 2 display d products…don’t use dem…dey’re ain’t efficient in cooling things down….f u really nid 2 use it…don’t use it 24/7!
