here’s a reflection by a colleague (ms. cathy guivencan) who attended d awakening d dreamer symposium last june 27, 2009 at d milkyway cafe in makati city as well as d trainer’s training on june 28, 2009 held @ dusit thani hotel in makati city.

“Invited by a colleague – Eric– I went to this symposium. The flyers says “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dreams of the Modern World”, by the Pachamama Aliance. The line alone sparks interest in me though I never really know what that means and besides it was free. Later I’ve known I am hearing the greatest call of my life, be the “bell ringer for others”. The event was attended by a diverse group of people; there were children, teenagers, teachers, mothers and professionals from different organizations and companies. The message was bone-chilling; seeing the world degrading and species disappearing because of what we are doing and where it would lead us if we continue to be blind. The symposium is a sort of awareness campaign to all gender and ages of the world to make us aware and realize that there is only one world. It is by knowing that we see our actions differently and see the world as our home, and then we do something. The symposium aims for people to be in blessed unrest (a state of inherit dissatisfaction/agitation to always create something bigger and better), which was effectively conveyed by the facilitators ms therese necio-ortega & mr. jon symes.

This made me progress to the second day which is the train the trainer event. Most of the attendees were present the day before and were compelled to answer the call like me. It feels great to know and be in a group with same interests and cause. And it was super fun because of our very enthusiastic trainer, Jon, combined with funny group of people. The whole day comprehensive training was conducted to prepare us for our own symposium, to become self-organizing and self-generating community. It was then that the “Kampaneros” of the Philippines was formed. We are only few bell ringers for the entire Philippines but we believe in a standing ovation, it starts with one fool standing up and pretty soon all Filipinos hopefully will be standing up to making this world a better place to live in. Isn’t that great?”
